Weligama is a town on the south coast of Sri Lanka, located in Matara District, Southern Province, Sri Lanka, governed by an Urban Council. The name Weligama literally means "sandy village" which refers to the area's sandy sweep bay. It is approximately 144 kilometers (89 mi) south of Colombo and is situated at an elevation of 9 meters (30 ft) above the sea level.
The main attraction placers in Weligama are Taprobane Island, Stilt Fisherman, Kusta Raja Gala, Whale watching, Snake farm, Surfing, and Lace-making.
Surfing you can find a good place around Weligama beach, the average price for a 1hr surfboard and a trainer will be 1500 per person. If you have a group of people the cost can be reduced. I would recommend "Surf Lovers Park" which I felt comfortable and reasonable price, apart from that stuff is really nice.

Apart from that, it's only 10 min to Mirissa where you can visit the famous Dome of palm trees and Parrot Rock
